PM Modi meets Slovak PM, elevates ties to Comprehensive Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico at Bratislava Castle on June 15, 2026. The leaders elevated bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Partnership, reflecting shared values and longstanding friendship.

They discussed trade, defence, technology, and global issues, and signed multiple agreements to deepen cooperation. During the meeting, both leaders reviewed key areas of collaboration, including trade, investment, defence, renewable energy, and academic exchanges.

They explored new opportunities in emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and supercomputers. A significant step was the agreement to establish India’s first Chair in Artificial Intelligence at the Technical University of Kosice in Slovakia.

Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude for Slovakia's support after the Pahalgam terrorist attack in April 2025, highlighting both nations' commitment to countering terrorism.

The leaders also exchanged views on global governance reforms and multilateralism, emphasizing their shared vision for international cooperation.

The meeting followed the successful India-EU Summit, where the landmark India-EU Free Trade Agreement and Joint Comprehensive Strategic Agenda were finalized. These developments were praised as major milestones in strengthening India’s ties with Europe.

Several Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) were signed, covering digital technologies, labour migration, higher education, and audio-visual creation. A Letter of Intent on defence cooperation was also exchanged.
