Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch has exposed a scam related to the NEET UG re-exam scheduled for June 21. Three individuals have been arrested from Rajasthan and Bihar for allegedly defrauding over 1,000 students and parents by promising leaked exam papers online.
The accused charged between ₹15,000 and ₹80,000 for these fake papers. Among those arrested are Sumer Singh Meena and Akash Meena from Rajasthan, who used Telegram channels and websites to claim they could provide leaked papers.
Naveen Yadav, arrested in Bihar, targeted students by offering exam fee refunds. He reportedly misused login credentials to change account passwords and transfer refund amounts to his own account, affecting around 150 students.
Police investigations revealed the accused operated 44 websites and 8 Telegram channels, posting fake payment screenshots and thank-you messages to gain trust. They claimed that 70-80% of their previously leaked papers were accurate, convincing students and parents to pay.
However, victims received only old or fake question papers and answer keys. The accused also used gaming accounts to obscure financial transactions, depositing money into these accounts and withdrawing it through multiple transactions to evade banking scrutiny.
Authorities confirmed that no actual exam papers were leaked, and the scam exploited the controversy surrounding paper leaks. The NEET UG re-exam will be held on June 21, with changes announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
