Monsoon rains brought much-needed relief to Vizianagaram district on Thursday morning, cooling temperatures to a pleasant 28°C. The rain, which started at 9:15 a.m.
and lasted until 11 a.m., marked a welcome change for residents who had been enduring sweltering heat, with temperatures reaching as high as 40°C earlier this month.
The downpour also provided hope to farmers in the region, who are relying on sufficient rainfall for their crops despite concerns over the impact of El Nino this monsoon season.
Over the last two weeks, daytime temperatures in Vizianagaram had ranged between 34°C and 36°C, making Thursday’s cooling rain a significant relief for both people and agriculture. District Collector S.
Ramsundar Reddy has instructed officials to implement measures to support farmers and the agriculture sector, following guidelines issued by the government.
The administration is focusing on preparedness to counter the potential challenges posed by El Nino, which is expected to reduce rainfall during this year’s monsoon.
The government’s detailed action plan includes steps to mitigate the impact of reduced rainfall and ensure farmers receive adequate support.
