Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized that India's journey to becoming a developed nation by 2047 hinges on its farms, fields, and villages.
Speaking at the inaugural session of a two-day national conference in New Delhi, he highlighted sustainable agriculture, innovation, and research as the foundation for achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
The conference, titled “Sustainable Agriculture for Viksit Bharat@2047: Tradition, Technology and Tangible Outcomes,” was organized by ABRSM in collaboration with ICAR and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
Shri Birla stressed the importance of blending traditional farming practices with modern technology to create a sustainable and resilient agricultural ecosystem.
He pointed out that agriculture is not just an economic activity but a cornerstone of India's culture and rural prosperity.
Addressing challenges like climate change, he called for science-driven solutions and innovation-led farming practices, including the use of drones, AI, and digital tools.
Shri Birla also emphasized the role of agricultural universities, research institutions, and agri-startups in driving rural development. He highlighted the need for water conservation, soil health management, and climate-resilient crops to ensure long-term sustainability.
