INS Sharda concluded a successful visit to Colombo, Sri Lanka, on June 13, 2026, enhancing maritime cooperation and bilateral ties.
The visit included professional exchanges, training sessions, and sports activities with the Sri Lankan Navy, aimed at improving interoperability and fostering mutual understanding.
During the visit, Sri Lankan Navy personnel participated in capacity-building exercises such as small arms handling, basic firefighting, first aid, and rescue procedures.
Rear Admiral Jagath Kumara, Commander of the Western Naval Area of the Sri Lankan Navy, visited INS Sharda and interacted with its crew, emphasizing the strong maritime partnership between the two nations.
The Commanding Officer of INS Sharda also met with Shri Santosh Jha, India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, during a courtesy call. This interaction further highlighted the shared commitment of both nations to regional maritime security and cooperation.
The visit aligns with India’s MAHASAGAR initiative, which promotes Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.
Friendly sports matches, professional discussions, and cross-deck visits were also conducted to strengthen bonds between the two naval forces.
