Imtiaz Ali aims to adapt Radha-Krishna's story for the screen

‘Want to Make Radha-Krishna’s Story,’ Says Imtiaz Ali: ‘Has a Deeper Philosophy’ Imtiaz Ali, celebrated for crafting emotional and aspirational love stories, recently shared his thoughts on storytelling and his aspirations for future projects.

Known for films like *Jab We Met* and *Love Aaj Kal*, Ali revealed that he does not consciously set out to make love stories, despite being widely associated with the genre. In an interview with ABP Live, Ali explained that romance naturally finds its way into his narratives.

“I don’t want to add romance to everything, but it just happens naturally, so I don’t stop that,” he said. Reflecting on his past work, he noted that he never approached *Jab We Met* or *Love Aaj Kal* as conventional love stories.

For instance, he initially wanted to name *Love Aaj Kal* simply *Aaj Kal*, as he saw it as an interpretation of love across different eras rather than a straightforward romantic tale.

When asked about the stories he hopes to tell in the future, Ali expressed a deep interest in Indian mythology. He revealed a long-standing desire to bring the story of Radha and Krishna to the screen.

While acknowledging that it is often seen as a love story, Ali emphasized its philosophical depth. “It’s not only a love story. There are many layers to their story. It has a deeper philosophy,” he said.

Ali also shared his broader perspective on love as a universal element in storytelling. “I don’t think you can make a story without love,” he remarked, explaining that love can manifest in various forms, such as patriotism or even revenge.
