IIT Delhi Achieves Highest-Ever QS World Ranking at 118th Globally

IIT Delhi Becomes India’s Top-Ranked Institution in QS World University Rankings 2027 IIT Delhi has solidified its position as India’s highest-ranked institution in the QS World University Rankings 2027, securing the 118th spot globally.

This marks an improvement of five places from its 123rd position last year, equalling the highest-ever global rank achieved by an Indian institution in these prestigious rankings. The rankings, released on June 18, 2026, highlight IIT Delhi’s consistent rise on the global stage.

Over the past four years, the institute has made remarkable progress, advancing from 197th in 2024 to 118th in 2027. This steady ascent underscores its growing reputation in teaching, research, and graduate employability.

One of the most notable achievements for IIT Delhi this year was in the Employer Reputation criterion, where it climbed 11 places to enter the global top 39.

This metric reflects how employers worldwide perceive the quality of graduates, indicating the high demand for IIT Delhi alumni in the job market. The institute also demonstrated significant progress in the Employment Outcomes criterion, improving by 60 ranks.

This category evaluates how well universities prepare their students for professional careers. Additionally, IIT Delhi advanced by 26 spots in the Citations per Faculty indicator, which measures the average number of citations per faculty publication.

This improvement highlights the growing international impact of the institute’s research. In the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject, IIT Delhi further cemented its reputation in engineering and technology.
