Himachal Pradesh witnessed sunny weather today after recent rainfall, making the weather pleasant in the hill regions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light rain is expected in some areas today and tomorrow.
However, a strong western disturbance is predicted to impact the region on June 18-19, bringing thunderstorms and hailstorms to districts such as Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla. Winds could reach speeds of up to 40 km/h during this period.
Rainfall is also likely to continue on June 20-21, with the monsoon expected to arrive anytime after June 20. The usual monsoon entry date for the state is between June 22-25.
In the last 24 hours, several areas recorded significant rainfall, including Kufri (31 mm), Shimla (12 mm), Sundernagar (17 mm), and Kangra (11 mm). The rainfall has led to a slight drop in temperatures, providing relief from the heat.
IMD predicts that maximum temperatures will remain near normal for the next six days.
Farmers and orchardists are expected to benefit from the rainfall, although IMD has advised caution during adverse weather conditions, urging people to avoid open areas during strong winds and storms.
Tourist destinations in the state are currently experiencing pleasant weather, attracting visitors from across the country. Recorded temperatures include Shimla at 24.4°C, Manali at 24.2°C, Kufri at 18.2°C, and Narkanda at 17.5°C.
