Anthropic Restores Claude Access Following Brief Outage Anthropic’s AI chatbot platform, Claude, experienced a brief outage on Thursday, June 18, disrupting services for users across multiple regions.
According to outage tracker Downdetector, the downtime began at 12:04 pm IST, with over 2,174 users reporting issues such as blank replies, failed prompts, and connection errors at the peak of the disruption.
The company confirmed the outage at 7:41 am UTC (1:11 pm IST), stating that it had identified the cause and was working on a resolution. By 8:19 am UTC (1:49 pm IST), Anthropic announced that the issue had been resolved.
The downtime, which lasted from 06:55 to 07:40 UTC, was officially marked as resolved on the Claude status page. This is not the first time Claude has faced service interruptions.
Incident logs show several disruptions in June, including elevated error rates and performance issues affecting both Claude.ai and its API services.
Recent outages have been linked to models like Claude Opus 4.8 and Claude Haiku 4.5, with users reporting intermittent service and performance problems.
Anthropic has acknowledged that the growing demand for its AI services, such as Claude Code and other enterprise tools, has strained its computing infrastructure.
