CJP Protest in Pune: Sonam Wangchuk Releases Education Charter, Demands Raised on NCERT Map

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) organized a protest on Thursday at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) campus in Pune. Social activist Sonam Wangchuk participated in the event, which saw hundreds of students and supporters carrying posters and banners.

The protestors demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

During the event, Sonam Wangchuk released CJP's education charter, emphasizing measures to prevent paper leaks, ensure timely results, increase transparency in recruitment and entrance exams, and address delays and irregularities in examinations.

CJP founder Abhijit Deepake claimed that the gathering in Pune was larger than one held earlier at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. He also presented five demands to the government, including the reinstatement of a Maratha Empire map in NCERT textbooks.

The map, which depicted parts of Rajasthan as Maratha territory, was removed by NCERT in March 2026 following objections from historians and former royal families.

Deepake announced that after Pune, CJP would hold its next protest in Lucknow on June 12, followed by events in Jaipur, Amritsar, Bengaluru, and Delhi's Jantar Mantar on June 20.

He also addressed a viral photo of himself with PM Narendra Modi, clarifying that it was AI-generated and denying any meeting with the Prime Minister.
