Counting for the Legislative Council elections in Agra will begin at 8 am today. The counting of ballot papers for the Graduate and Teacher constituencies will be held at the Naveen Mandi Samiti. Ballot papers from Agra and 12 other districts will be counted at the centre.
Fourteen tables each have been arranged for the two seats. Counting for the Teacher seat will be conducted in 11 rounds, while the Graduate seat will be counted in 20 rounds. The pace of the results will depend on the votes marked according to preference.
Because of this process, the final results may take time. The counting centre has been placed under three-tier security. CCTV cameras will be used for monitoring the premises.
Carrying mobile phones inside the centre has been prohibited, and entry will be allowed only with an authorised ID. Routes for heavy vehicles have been diverted. Traffic will remain restricted between Rambagh and Bajrang Petrol Pump.
The result for the Teacher seat may be announced late at night or on Wednesday morning. The Graduate seat result is likely to be declared on Wednesday.
