NEET UG Re-Exam: Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Reviews Preparations in High-Level Meeting
Ahead of the NEET UG re-examination scheduled for June 21, a high-level meeting was convened to ensure smooth and secure conduct of the exam. The meeting was chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who reviewed the preparations in detail.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Education, state governments, the National Testing Agency (NTA), and higher education institutions participated in the meeting. The discussions focused on maintaining transparency, integrity, and fairness in the examination process. Minister Pradhan directed all officials to remain vigilant and take all necessary steps to ensure the re-exam is conducted in an impartial and stress-free manner for students.
To oversee the process, ministry-appointed officials will monitor activities across states and report to a command center led by the NTA Director-General. The Minister also instructed state government nodal officers to provide all essential facilities to students, ensuring a stress-free environment during the exam.
Key attendees at the meeting included Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy; Vineet Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Higher Education; and Abhishek Singh, Director-General of the NTA. Sanjay Kumar emphasized the importance of providing proper seating arrangements, drinking water, and other necessary facilities at exam centers. He urged state nodal officers to take proactive measures for smooth exam conduct.
Vineet Joshi highlighted the critical nature of the period leading up to the re-exam, stressing the need for strict adherence to protocols, timely execution of instructions, and effective coordination at all levels. Meanwhile, Abhishek Singh stated that the NTA is working closely with district-level committees, state police, and intelligence agencies to ensure the exam proceeds peacefully and efficiently.
The meeting, held in a hybrid format, saw participation from 222 individuals, including senior state officials, nodal officers of centrally funded institutions, university vice-chancellors, and directors of higher education institutions nationwide. Detailed discussions were held on exam preparations, security arrangements, logistics, grievance redressal mechanisms, and compliance with all regulations. States and Union Territories were urged to collaborate with relevant departments to ensure a seamless, transparent, and disruption-free examination process.
It is noteworthy that the re-examination was necessitated after allegations of a question paper leak led to the cancellation of the previous NEET UG exam last month. The authorities subsequently announced the new exam date as June 21.
