Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Addresses Suit Controversy, Highlights Political Vision

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay addressed questions raised about his choice of attire during the swearing-in ceremony on Monday. Responding to criticism from DMK and AIADMK, Vijay stated, "Why should DMK and AIADMK have issues with my suit? My politics, like my suit, is black and white—symbolizing clarity and decisions without confusion." He further described himself not as a Chief Minister but as the people's first servant.

Vijay dismissed allegations of horse-trading made by opposition parties, asserting that both DMK and AIADMK attempted power maneuvers after the assembly election results. He also criticized DMK's family-centric politics, attributing it as a significant reason for their electoral defeat. Vijay emphasized that the public desires a new political approach, which he believes his party, TVK, represents.

Expressing gratitude to voters from Tiruchirappalli East, Vijay acknowledged the emotional connection he shares with them despite resigning from the constituency after the election. He retained the Perambur seat, stating, "People call me the MLA of Perambur, but my bond with Tiruchirappalli remains strong."

In the Tamil Nadu assembly elections held on April 23, TVK secured a major victory with 108 seats. Vijay contested from both Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East, winning both constituencies. Following his appointment as Chief Minister, he chose to retain the Perambur seat.
