West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has alleged that BJP and police are pressuring Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLAs to join the BJP. In a video message shared on Facebook, she claimed that some MLAs and MPs are being intimidated, threatened, or bribed in an attempt to weaken the TMC. However, she asserted that such efforts would only strengthen her party further.

Banerjee dismissed claims that senior TMC leaders are not supporting party workers, calling these allegations baseless. She also stated that TMC workers are being prevented from protesting and that party offices are being vandalized.

Meanwhile, the TMC expelled two MLAs, Sandipan Saha and Ritabrata Banerjee, on charges of anti-party activities. According to the party, the two had been absent from meetings and were making statements against the party.

In a related development, a meeting called by Mamata Banerjee on May 31 saw low attendance, with only 20 out of 80 MLAs present. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh attributed this to preparations for state-wide protests planned for June 1 and a symbolic sit-in on June 2 in Kolkata, led by Mamata Banerjee. These protests are aimed at opposing post-poll violence and eviction drives using bulldozers.

The situation has sparked speculation about internal discord within the TMC, but party leaders have denied such claims.
