The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that monsoon winds are likely to enter Kerala between 7 PM and 8 PM today. Conditions are reportedly favorable for the onset of the monsoon, which was initially expected on May 26 but has been delayed by nine days. Typically, the monsoon reaches Kerala around June 1 and covers the entire country within the next six weeks.
Heavy rainfall is expected in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka over the next seven days, according to IMD. Additionally, pre-monsoon activity has intensified in states such as Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana. Wind speeds of 50-70 km/h are anticipated in several districts of these states.
IMD has issued alerts for rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in 24 states, including Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and Telangana. Odisha is forecasted to experience rain with thunderstorms for four days, while Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are under alerts for heavy rain, hailstorms, and strong winds. Delhi has been placed under a yellow alert for the next two days.
In Rajasthan, nine districts are under an orange alert for storms and rain. Dungarpur witnessed hailstorms, while Udaipur experienced rainfall. However, Bikaner recorded the highest temperature, exceeding 43°C.
IMD continues to monitor weather conditions closely, with updates expected in the coming days.
